How To Prep & Apply & Remove Your Press Ons
~Here's step-by-step Instructions:
To Prep & Apply your prestigious press ons you will need:
A cuticle pusher, nail clipper, nail file, nail buffer, and alcohol wipe(s). All of these items are included in our Royal Packets, and you will recieve 1 Royal Packet for Free with the purchase of any nail set.
NOTE: You can purchase additional Royal Packets from the Xtras section of this website.
Begin by Preparing (prepping) your natural nails:
- Clean your nails: Start with clean, dry nails. Remove any old polish.
- Push back your cuticles.
- Use a nail clipper to clip your natural nails if they need trimming.
- Use a nail file to shape your nails.
- Lightly buff your natural nail beds to remove the smooth surface from your nails. This will ensure and prolong the wear for your press on nails. Be careful and don’t over buff.
- Wipe off any excess dust & skin plus Dehydrate your natural nails with an alcohol wipe(s).
- Apply adhesive tabs or glue: If you're using adhesive tabs, peel off the backing and apply them to your natural nails. If you're using glue, apply a small drop onto your natural nail, and a small drop to the press on nail.
- Line up the press-on nail with your cuticle making sure they're evenly spaced and aligned with your cuticle.
- Press from cuticle to fingertip to remove air and avoid air bubbles. Press down firmly, holding it in place for a minimum time of 10-20 seconds to ensure it sticks.
- Repeat for all nails: Repeat the process starting at number 1 for each nail.
~HEY GEMS, JEWELS & CHARMS HERE IS A Jewel TIP:
~ Remember to avoid getting your nails wet for at least an hour after application to allow the adhesive to fully set.
~ You can always choose to use a different glue than what is provided by us. Sally Beauty offers many different types of primers and nail adhesives, with IBD standing out as the top choice for long-lasting wear.
GEMS & JEWELS & CHARM ALERT: Kindly exercise caution during application, particularly with Blinged Nails, to prevent damaging your press on nails by excessively flattening or pinching the nail at the side walls. Such actions may result in the detachment of the gel nail product or gems from the surface. Intricate nail designs such as Bling, Chrome, Caviar/micro-bead, and Foil nails are fragile and not intended for rigorous use. It is typical for gems to loosen over time.
~Caring For Your Prestigious Press Ons:
Hey Gems, Jewels, & Charms; Here are some jewel tips for caring for your press-on nails:
- Avoid water: Limit exposure to water, especially hot water, as it can weaken the adhesive and cause the nails to come loose.
- Be gentle: Treat your press-on nails with care to avoid lifting or breaking them. Avoid using your nails to open packages or perform other tasks that could put stress on them. Remember your hands are not tools.
- Use gloves: When doing household chores or tasks that involve water, wear gloves to protect your press-on nails.
- Reapply adhesive: If a press-on nail starts to lift, you can reapply adhesive to secure it back in place. Be sure to not add too much adhesive.
- Remove properly: When it's time to remove the press-on nails, soak them in nail polish remover or warm, soapy water to loosen the adhesive before gently peeling them off. You can also use the pick tool provided in your Royal Packet to help with nail removal. Avoid pulling or forcing them off, as this can damage your natural nails. Please see the removal instructions below.
- Moisturize: Keep your nails and cuticles moisturized to prevent dryness and promote healthy nail growth. Do not over moisturize your nails with oils as this can loosen the adhesive particles and cause premature lifting of your press on nails.
Following these tips will help keep your press-on nails looking great and lasting longer. With great care your press ons can be worn for two weeks or longer at a time, and will be reusable when taken care of.
~How To Remove Press Ons:
You can bid farewell to your press on nails for good by clipping, filing, and soaking them in acetone. Warning: Your unique press ons will need to be disposed of and will not be reusable after doing this!
